Professor Jia Li Yuan has more than 48 years’ clinical experience in the practice of both western and traditional Chinese medicine.As well as treating sexual problems, she is practised in the whole field of traditional Chinese medicine:
- Herbal remedies
- Acupuncture
- Chinese massage

She also specialises in:
- Pain management - Weight loss
- Sports therapies

Professor Yuan graduated in 1961 from Tongji Medical University in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province.

Between then and 1975, she worked at the People’s Hospital in the city of Yichang, also in Hubei Province, specialising in urinary and abdominal surgery and gynaecology while teaching and working as a general practitioner.

In her spare time she studied traditional Chinese medicine and in the 1970s and 80s devoted two extended periods to continue her studies in this field.

Between 1975 and 1990, she was a visiting doctor at the clinic attached to the Institute of High Energy Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. There she treated patients using both western and traditional Chinese medicine.

In 1988 she began a course in traditional Chinese medicine at Beijing Zhen Xing Chinese Traditional Medical Institute and graduated in 1991. Since then she has specialised in traditional Chinese medicine.

In 1990 she and her associate, Professor Xiao-cheng Yan, began the research that led to the making of Male Power.

Between 1992 and 1997 she returned as deputy director of the clinic attached to the Institute of High Energy Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

In 1993 and 1995 she was invited to Tokyo in an academic exchange and in 1998 visited Taiwan in a similar capacity.

In 2000, she was a visiting professor at Beijing Guangming Chinese Medicine Institute.

Professor Yuan started Tongji Herbal Australia Pty Ltd in 1998 and since then has practised traditional Chinese medicine at her clinic in Haymarket, Sydney. She is a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.

In 2004 she spoke at the 6th World Conference on Acupuncture on the Gold Coast held by the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, in combination with the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association.

She gave a well-received paper, ‘Nourishing the Kidneys to Treat sexual problem’, based on the research that led to the making of Male Power.
